The United States has approved the use of the anti-malarial drug chloroquine to hep treat the coronavirus causing COVID-19.
President Donald Trump announced this during a press briefing on Thursday.
“The anti-malarial drug Chloroquine has shown very encouraging, “very, very encouraging” early results [in use against the Coronavirus],” Trump told reporters
“We’re going to be able to make that drug available almost immediately, and that’s where the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has been so great.
“They’ve gone through the approval process – it’s been approved. They took it down from many, many months to immediate. So we’re going to be able to make that drug available by prescription.”
